Quirkle is probably the most colorful game in our collection at Cafe Sol. It’s a bucket full of wooden tiles with attention-grabbing shapes and colors, which explains why it appeals to kids. But it’s the (alleged) adults of Cafe Sol who can’t seem to get enough of it.

The rules are simple. One has to create line sets of up to 6 tiles, based either on shape or color. Like Scrabble, the lines grow with each turn, and branch out. You gain points based on the sets.

It’s easier to understand once you’ve played it.

The bright colors really pop out on Sol’s white tables; narrow enough to make sure people sit close to one another, but long enough to make sure there’s plenty of table space for the board/card game..

It’s a great game that has brought many strangers at Cafe Sol to the same table. Feel free to join us whenever you’re in the mood for some light-hearted fun!
