It’s been a few months since we discovered Abdullah, yet the thrill of meeting someone new refuses to fade.

Talking to Abdullah feels like spreading a ball of half-melted butter on a very crisp toast. Conversations are effortless with very little friction. Abdullah is the sort of person every community space needs; a stranger who reminds you of a an old friend. One who makes a fresh introduction feel like a warm reunion.

Now one of the regulars at Cafe Sol, Abdullah first joined us as a new member of our support group. A compassionate smile can incredibly meaningful in a support group. You may not be able to so something about a person’s situation, to recover what’s lost, to change the past and do things differently. But the right smile and a helping hand, can make all the difference in the world.
