The 'Social Butterfly' Keeps the Community Running at Sol / iO

Mahum is a person who listens, which is possibly the bravest thing one can do.

Anyone can drop advise on people from a safe height, but it takes tremendous courage to descend into somebody else’s darkness and share that difficult moment with them.

Mahum a.k.a SocialButterfly_ is an artist, a community organizer, and to our enormous gratitude, the curator at iO - The Space. She manages most of the events and activities at iO and Cafe Sol, including the longest-running depression and anxiety support group in the twin cities.

Mahum experiments with various artforms, and has picked up an enviable talent for hand-making designer tote-bags.

Above all, she’s a great conversationalist who livens up the cafe whenever she comes over.
